The ruins of Tanabe Castle built by Akechi Mitsuhide's ally Hosokawa Yusai during the Sengoku Period (the Age of Warring States) remains today. As many as 100 cherry trees are planted in the park, and when the trees are in full bloom, the atmosphere is lively with people having cherry blossom
parties. There is also a museum that introduces the history of Tanabe Castle. Many locals enjoy relaxing time here.
